About Us

The Academic Advisory Council for Signage Research and Education (AACSRE) is a 501(3)c, not for profit organization founded in 2015. We aim to engage independent thought leaders in an exciting interdisciplinary space to move the dialogue regarding signs and wayfinding, and to create a strong network for collaboration.

Faculty members from over a dozen universities along with thought leaders from the sign industry are driving this collaborative movement. There are three key pillars to our success: Knowledge Creation, Talent Cultivation, and Liaison Between Academics & Practice.

Knowledge Creation

The IJSW is the preeminent academic journal of AACSRE. In it we publish peer-reviewed research stemming from some of the most renowned universities in the world bridging the gap between a variety of academic disciplines and the signage industry.

Talent Cultivation

We created an Emerging Fellows program to reward and support those who are researching innovative thinking in signage. Our mission is to support researchers from diverse disciplines in conducting research related to the societal benefits of on-premise signs.

Liaison Between Academics & Practice

We are the hub of thought-leadership of the signage industry. We work across disciplines to bridge the knowledge production, and dissemination across industry & academia.
