Announcement of New Editorial Team

AACSRE is pleased to announce the selection of the new co-editors of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Signage and Wayfinding –Dr. Christopher Auffrey and Dr. Vikas Mehta of the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning (DAAP). Dr. Auffrey and Dr. Mehta will oversee the Journal’s publication for a three-year term through 2022.

Dr. Auffrey is a Professor of Planning and Bachelor of Urban Planning Program Coordinator for the School of Planning at DAAP. He is also a principal in Visual Environments Analytics, LLC, a consulting firm that specializes in the assessment of how signage captures the attention of viewers in complex visual environments. He holds a PhD in Urban, Technological and Environmental Planning, a MA in Economic Development and a BA in Environmental Conservation and Economics.

Dr. Mehta is the Fruth/Gemini Chair of Communication in the Urban Environment (CUE), the Ohio Eminent Scholar of Urban/Environmental Design and Associate Professor of Urbanism in the School of Planning at DAAP. He is the author of numerous texts on urban design and public space, including the recent 101 Things I Learned in Urban Design School (2018, with Matthew Frederick), Public Space, an anthology of about 100 chapters (Routledge, 2015) and The Street: A Quintessential Social Public Space (Routledge, 2013), which received the 2014 Book Award from the Environmental Design Research Association. Dr. Mehta is also the co-editor of the Journal Children, Youth and Environments.

Anna Parnigoni has also joined Dr. Auffrey and Dr. Mehta on the editorial team in the role of Associate Managing Editor. Anna is a current master’s candidate in the Community Planning program at DAAP and has a background in marketing and communications.
